Weigh-in Day, Week 7

on March 9, 2013

I don’t really feel like writing this post today, to be completely honest. But then, me being completely honest is what these posts are about so I guess I’ll just suck it up.

The kids woke me up this morning and I was planning to sleep in a little so I’m the tiniest of tiny bit grouchy. Really, just a tiny bit. Then I stepped on the scale and it mocked me and said I’ve gained 1.5lbs this week and I just about smashed it to bits and flushed it down the toilet. Like I said, just a tiny bit grouchy over here this morning, not the way I wanted to start my Saturday.

I am honestly not sure what happened this week. Even though we had the birthday in the house, I tracked my food and made sure to stay within my weekly budget. I exercised religiously every day. I think I will take a closer look at my food journal and see if there is something I can switch up.

Today is the start of a new week, I’ll do my best not to disappoint you…or myself by next Weigh-in.

Don’t let small set backs become major ones. When the scale disappoints you, pick yourself up and determine to do better next time. Don’t let the discouragement keep you down and get you further behind. I’m talking to myself today.

Question…from all the exercise aren’t you bound to gain weight? Its when fat turns to muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, so I’ve been told. If your clothes are fitting much better there is improvement, just on the scale itself it doesn’t show. You might have done more research on all of this and I may been told wrong, but I don’t think that you should be disappointed!

Thanks Lendy. I know I have heard the muscle weighs more than fat theory but I always just figure that is more for the folks who just have 5-15lbs to lose. I certainly don’t want to trade 100lbs of fat for 100lbs of muscle! Hoping eventually the extra muscle will start to cause the fat to disappear…and hope it doesn’t grow so much I never actually shrink. 🙂 Funny though, eh? Just finished 40 minutes on the bike plus 10 minutes strength training and now I’m munching on carrots. Somethings gotta give.

HAHAHA! I don’t think you’ll have that problem unless you decide to go into body-building!!! I think once you’ve lost the 100lbs you aim to loose, your body will have shaped itself to what would be normal for your body size. When you were teaching, I was on diets already cuz I was told I was fat. Now I look at pictures and I look slim, but at that point I weighed roughly 140lbs average; even the doctor told me I needed to go down to 125lbs. So overall, your bones weigh quite a bit also plus the muscle you are now building the scale really won’t show a weight loss fast.
Most importantly don’t give up! You know how they say when you make a mistake, the mistake doesn’t define you, its what you make of the mistake! During your weigh loss journey, counting your points and all that you’re bound to give in and such, just don’t stop exercising and eating healthy. At the end of the day the fact that you are going thru with correct choices is what matters most.

Hi Sara, I totally know how you feel. I’ve been really trying to shed some of my extra pounds for 3 weeks. First two weeks, nothing came off. This morning when I stepped on the scale, I was finally 4 lbs lighter!!
